Fixed vs Growth MindsetIn order to start developing a growth mindset, we need to understand first, what kind of mindset you have. You may have a FIXED MINDSET if you;
If you believe you are a certain way because 'that's the way I was made', this is a fixed mindset. Fostering a Growth MindsetIf you would like to have a sense of inner peace and freedom while building a fulfilling life at home and work, I believe these are the primary growth mindset steps to follow; 1.) Accept your imperfections: No one is perfect. No one will ever be perfect. Screw up, laugh and learn from them and know that you will have a lifetime of them and smile at that knowing. :D 2.) Understand that there will be setback and failures: Just like screw ups, take these as areas to develop or areas that you can choose not to develop. These setbacks are inevitable in your development, there is no moving forward without the learnings, which can feel like push backs. 3.) You must learn to get and be ok with feedback and criticism: Ask for more of them. Be ok with receiving them. These can be your guideposts when receiving from trusted and respected sources. 4.) The growth is in the journey, not just getting to the outcome: Keep your eyes open, your hands on the wheel and adapt appropriately. This is the space where you can bank the most growth. 5.) Build resilience: drop the neediness (as Darren Hardy states), take it on the chin and stand up and be accountable for your choices, actions and consequences of these. Pointing fingers, blaming, complaining are NOT components of a growth mindset. Find a mentor or coachLook! I want you to know that the more you reach out and ask for help, the more you will grow. You will learn to take the steps to develop a growth mindset with much less frustration when you choose to make this a mission and retain the help and support of a mentor or coach.
Nothing in life is as good as sharing a journey. 3 TOP PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AREAS TO FOCUS ON FOR 2019#1 IS YOUR HEALTH There are many areas inside your health to bring your attention to and determine where your main energy and focus will be.
"Don't wait for sickness to come before you learn about health" #2 IS WEALTH Inside the wealth category exists many areas where you can feel abundance. Here are just a few to consider paying attention to this year.
"The amazement of a man is not in how much he amasses but in his integrity and his desire to positively contribute to those around him" - Dianne Flemington #3 IS AMBITION A very energized word to use. You will get mixed reactions so I encourage you to first define this word for yourself. What you look like being ambitious and what are you doing? Some content to consider will be;
"Intelligence without ambition is like a bird without wings" - Salvador Dali Don't let your life pass you by while you diddly dally around. Don't you want to feel that at the end of your life you were up to good to great things?
LUMINA to Support Change in your OrganizationTHE BEST DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT TOOL FOR YOUR PEOPLE I'm impassioned to write this blog today as I have been working with individuals in organizations in states of massive change. In different industries such as Healthcare Education and even Entrepreneurs are all dealing with change. The truth is, we all deal with change. It's a constant in our lives. At home and at work. We're good with change when it's good to us. However if change represents a threat or creates a fear, we're not so good. I want us to be GREAT with change. Your Personality MattersEvery changing situation creates a circumstance.
We can then perceive the circumstance as good or bad. Leadership changes can create uncertainty, unrest, and on the opposite spectrum it can create circumstance of opportunity, creativity, a fresh start. Health issues with ourselves or close family members are another change we don't feel so great about. Its a circumstance we can choose to see in whatever perspective we want. Individually we are responsible to how we respond to the changes that we are experiencing. This is why your personality matters. It will determine not only your behaviours but also the efficiency of how you manage ALL change. It matters to recruitment, to team managers, to team mates, to clients, customers and suppliers. It matters to your family, your spouse, your waitress and butler. How you handle change is in direct proportion to how you handle most circumstances in your life. Don't believe me? Take a moment and have a look at your personality. Do you have children? When they do something that upsets you (creates a change in your emotional atmosphere) what parts of your personality show up? Do you know how you show up when you are stressed or overwhelmed at work? Do you know how you are perceived by others in your organization when you are in overwhelm? Do you notice the similarities? Do you know why this matters? The more intelligence you can gain and apply to working in change will offer you faster access to the state of being you mostly desire, and perhaps don't even know it. Peace and fulfillment. That state of calm that allows space for productivity and wellbeing. Let's be honest here. Change is inevitable. And fighting change is futile. (feels like a cliche) And people are still ignoring the personality factors involved in making change a success at work and in families. It simply does not work to scream back at your child or partner when a change has occurred? And it simply doesn't work in organizations. Learn about yourself and your people and how you work best together. When you start to understand peoples personalities and introduce change, you can begin to build a formula to move through change together. ...Just my thoughts. |
