How My Big Picture Thinking Gets Me In Trouble

As an entrepreneur, having this as a high level aspect in my personality certainly raises challenges to the surface.  As with all negative perspectives there are lots of positive ones too that I will unfold here with you.

The LUMINA Aspect of Big Picture Thinking

The Big Picture Thinking Aspect is about creativity.  Looking at things in a unique way, people with a high Big Picture Thinking score are often visionaries.  They look beyond the reality of "what is" and more towards "what could be".  They want to make improvements and shake up status quo.  
These individuals will champion their idea, even if it means introducing changes of dramatic proportions.  In addition, they are not afraid to speak up even if others may consider their ideas odd or strange.

There is so many great ideas and projects that come out of having this strength in aspect.  I especially love how it engages others in my "wild thinking" sometimes.  It can be a cause of great conversations and debates and if not reigned in and without self awareness, can cause unnecessary upsets depending on how closely related to these "wild' ideas I am.

This aspect has the ability to be 'overextended', in LUMINA language.  It means that we can use too much of it.  It then shows up as something different.  
Very important for you to know is that even if you are strong in your Big Picture Thinking, you may not overextend in this aspect. 

Someone who is overextended in their Big Picture Thinking can produce unrealistic or desperate ideas.  With their fanciful concepts they can come across as dreamers, taking discussions off on a tangent.  This can make them hard to connect with, as they can be seen as 'living in their head'.  When overextended, they can also be accused of inducing change simply for the sake of change.  Their strong imagination can make it hard frothier to put them back in touch with reality.

Why It's Important To Know Your Personality

It was a massive ah ha moment for me when I received my LUMINA portrait and had time after my review to really sink into the details.
I really get now, as I show up in different aspects and qualities, how these affect my business and personal life.  
I feel aware of myself and therefore have much better success with relationships and projects knowing how I can show up, how to prepare and communicate with others.

My Big Picture Thinking aspect definitely helped me leave my corporate job to establish a business serving and supporting others in their personal and professional development, which has been amazing.  
This aspect allows me to offer unique ideas, products and services in ways that are outside of traditional methods. Making it fun for you to engage and embrace the learning.
And...becasue I can seem so "out of the box", my spontaneity in business is not always seen as a secure method to business building.
I can have too many projects rolling at one time and they all suffer due to my lack of attention to the follow through.
So now, I make sure I hire for those positions that I can not stand still long enough in.  Knowing this about myself, that I am the ideas girl has me no longer feeling like a failure, but excited to offer my mind and ideas to others who struggle in this arena, and who are strong in follow through and processes. 

How To Identify Your Strengths & Blind Spots

As I mentioned earlier.  Having the self awareness of who I am and how I show up has been such an asset in making successful shifts in my life.  It has created confidence in my self to handle business details and personal details in a much more empowered manner.

People take themselves for granted.  
We think we know how we show up for others.  And too many times I have seen evidence of the Feedback process where individuals are actually shocked at how they are being received by others.

An example is my big picture thinking aspect.  
Its fun for me to sit on my own and dream up and create.  
Knowing what I know now from investing in LUMINA personality tools, I get that how I communicate to others from this aspect is crucial and important to the success and outcome of that conversation.  I get that what others are hearing me from this aspect and how they are hearing my big ideas is through a different filter.  They will be hearing me through their own personality filters.  
​The quicker I can speed read a person, the better I can talk through their filter.
