Use LUMINA SPARK to Win The GigSo here's the thing, for those of you, like me who are just learning about the this new lifestyle called the 'Gig Economy', an economy I very much participate in and rely upon for my business and just didn't realize it had a name. It's one to be taken very seriously and if you are participating, then you'll want to read this! The 'Gig Economy is defined as disrupting the traditional methods in which business is structured and the way we work today. As explained in Diane Mulcahy's book : The Gig Economy, "The 'Gig Economy' includes consulting and contractor arrangements, part time jobs, temp assignments, freelancing, self employment, side gigs and on demand work through platforms like Upwork and TaskRabbit." Gone are the days of secure full time jobs in plentitude. Working for just one or two companies over the course of a lifetime, stable and consistently rising incomes, corporate benefits and a retirement plan or package are few and far between now. Diane explains that "factors such as flexibility, autonomy, and alignment with the mission and meaning of work are important to workers today and many are willing to trade off some amount of economic compensation for jobs that offer those benefits" The Gig Economy is the fastest growing workforce today. So it's more important than ever, to enable you to compete in this thriving environment, you will be required to know your strengths, blind spots and learn some communication skills that benefit you and the people you will be contracted or freelancing for. You will benefit greatly from learning and being able to build rapport quickly and effectively. This will enable you to discern your alignment with potential business and contracts without to many judgement errors and negative effects to your time and income. You'll need to understand yourself and how you can stand out from the crowd, not just by what you know academically, but how you can add value to their business and work with others. Even though you may be working from home, you're still part of team and now more than ever, cohesiveness, co operation and strong communication skills are crucial. Take the time to invest in yourself as a business and be ultimately prepared for the job opportunities you're looking for. LUMINA Spark will give that knowledge and edge you're wanting. It will give you the understanding of yourself, your communication style and an understanding of other peoples styles. You will be able to build rapport and greatly improve communications with others. Selling Yourself: Easy with LUMINA SALESI understand, no one really enjoys talking about themselves at the best of times, never mind having to verbally share accomplishments and business strategies and personal values in order to attain a contract or project. However, as the population in this arena grows, competitive edge is necessary. And in an economy where people can hide behind their devices, humanizing the interview and the conversation will go a long way to achieving the contract. Business may seem to be looking only for the "skilled person", however what's being uncovered is that the quality of the job completed is correlated with the value the contractor feels the company has for them. Everyone wants to be acknowledged and appreciated and treated fairly. I've seen this over and over, where business have contractors walk away mid project in frustration of being treated poorly, ignored, shown no value, etc. Don't let this happen to you. Here is a fact: As a contractor or freelancer you are up against others who can work a project or position as well or better than you. Perhaps they have more longevity, experience or skill. Maybe they've been biding, applying or interviewing for contracts in this gig economy setting longer than you. Whatever the case may be, getting comfortable with selling yourself will be a priority. And as you gain confidence in this area, you will then be able to set yourself up with the opportunities you prefer rather than just taking what comes down the line. Here's another fact: As a contractor/freelancer you are a business. And business owners need to master the art of selling. And since this is primarily now a space where it's you that you are selling, you better get nice and friendly and aware of yourself. Your strengths, blindspots and understand the selling process are intelligent areas for you to start your path to making this a successful journey for you. LUMINA SALES is just the key. This tool will not only disclose your selling style, strengths, and uncover potential areas for training and improvement. It will help you build your sales process for your business. Here's the scary part. Without you having and personal sales awareness and no sales process in your business you can not possibly know what is working and what is not. As Tony Robbins says "You cannot manage what you are not measuring" I see so many solopreneurs suffering at their own lazy hand. Use the LUMINA SALES tool right from the start, to make this an easier set up and get you to your desired gig and income faster. Professional Development: Now more than everIf you are serious about building a lifestyle for yourself that allows you the flexibility, time and income you create. Then I would do two things right now inside your professional development. (which as a business owner, professional development is something you must be doing consistently)
