Did you pick one?
Go ahead! Pick one!
Ostrich or Eagle?
I get it. Some of you picked one out of a sense of honesty. Some of you picked one with the "hopes to be" in mind and some of you just made a 50/50 guess and then there's some of you who picked by which may be your most favorite of the two.
When I first considered these two images I felt like I had some of both in me, with a strong desire to be mostly an Eagle.
Here's Where I Am Going With This
As a mentor/coach to those realizing that life is challenging to navigate without some unbiased objectivity provided by another (a massively undervalued commodity) I also come across other people who disregard and/or have no comprehension of the importance objectivity can have on their life.
A life without objectivity is like walking though a narrow corridor where you have a very limited view, if any real sense of what is going on around you.
Objectivity is a gift that offers many different dimensions, view points, perspectives and even education. And you've read it here on this blog before....like anything on this wonderful planet earth, if you're not growing, you're dying. So what's it going to be?
This all came to become a blog post as I was recently on a call with a 38 yr old mother and career woman who was referred to me from a client who is participating in my SELF LOVE & CONFIDENCE eCourse.
At first listen I received her as a woman who was very educated and decisive about what she was up to for herself. What I soon realized after some curiosity questions, probably at the same time she did as well, was that all the words she was delivering to me were a mask to cover up her lost self and lack of intentional living. She had learned to speak the theory of personal and professional development yet had rarely practiced or took action on any of her readings or seminars. You would know this as, she could talk the talk but not walk the walk.
What was amazing about this woman was in that moment of ah ha on the phone with me, stunned against one of my curiosity questions, she owned it! She owned that she was a phony and that she manipulated herself out of exercises, events, conversations that would have her extracting herself.
After her full confession of how she was falsely showing up for important people in her life, including herself, she came to be present with me on the phone and pulled her ostrich head out of the sand.
For the first time, desiring to get intentional about who she wanted and dreamed to be and intentional about the life she wants to live.
Her hiring me on for her mentor/coach to start her intentional living is similar to her taking the shape of an eagle and thus allowing herself to fly above and gain objectivity through our work together and her future actions. Objectivity can then provide clarity, choices and awareness's that keeping our heads in the sand and pretending does not.
What is Intentional Living?
Intentional living is the action of getting present in your life to the reality that YOU are the ONLY one who controls what you are up to, what you respond to, how you respond and that all your choices have consequences. You are fully accountable for your being and your doing. Fully responsible for all the is YOU!
In this intentional living is the knowledge that you choose how you want to be, such as which emotions and which thoughts you will let wash over you and which you will let control you.
Intentional living is the action of taking life on rather than letting life take over you.
My belief is that Intentional Living is the ONLY way to live. And because we only live once, we get just one kick at the can in this human body, I want you to know who you are, I want you to know who you want to become and I want you to live the life you want and are fully capable of living!
